A little info about 2020 Olympics.
This year's Olympic campaign for India went very well. India won 7 medals which is the most it has ever won in an Olympic. India was very close to winning 4 more medals in Golf, Discus-Throw, Wrestling and Women's Hockey. The overall performance of all the athletes that came to the Olympics from India was very great,and it finished 48th rank which is the best India's had in over 4 decades.

Aditi Ashok: -
Until the last round she was the contender of the silver medal, but she missed the medal by a couple of strokes. It could have been a great movement in Indian Sport History. Her achievement in this tournament is unforgettable.
Indian Women's Hockey Team: -
Our Indian Women's Hockey Team was an underdog team. No one expected them to do so well. But they played really very well throughout the tournament, but they just missed the bronze medal at the last moment of the match. This team is a great inspiration for the future tournaments.
Deepak Punia: -
Deepak Punia fought very hard for the bronze medal but unfortunately missed the medal.
Kamalpreet Kaur: -
Kamalpreet Kaur made it to the final round of Discus throw. She was a strong contender of the medal. She just bettered the previous Indian Olympic record of Krishna Poonia by throwing 63.70m to finish 6th place.

Neeraj Chopra

Subedar Neeraj Chopra VSM (Vishisht Seva Medal) is a javelin thrower who is the first track and field athlete to win an Olympic gold medal for India. This feat was accomplished in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics with a throw of 87.58m in his second attempt, on 7th August 2021. He is the first Indian athlete to win the U-20 World Championships in track and field. He is also a Junior commissioned officer in the Indian Army. He also set the under-20 world record of 86.48 meter. To encourage javelin throw pan-India 7th August will be celebrated as National Javelin Day by the Athletics Federation of India (AFI).

Early Life
Chopra was born in Khandra village, Panipat district, Haryana. At the age of 12, Chopra was a very mischievous and obese boy who weighed 90 kilos, causing Chopra's father to enroll him in a basic gymnasium at Madlauda, which Chopra had to cycle to and from 24 kilometers a day. After informing his parents of his dislike for the Madlauda gym where he was its youngest member, he was enrolled in a gym at Panipat. While there, Chopra would also frequent the nearby Panipat Sports Authority of India center, where a javelin thrower named Jaiveer Singh recognized his early talent at the javelin throw. Observing his ability to achieve a 40-metre throw without training and further impressed by Chopra's drive, Jaiveer began coaching him.

Indian Men's Hockey Team

The Indian men's national field hockey team represents India in international Field hockey competitions, and is governed by Hockey India. The team was formerly under the control of Indian Hockey Federation. India was the first non-European team to be a part of the International Hockey Federation. In 1928, the team won its first Olympic gold medal and until 1960, the Indian men's team remained unbeaten in the Olympics, winning six gold medals in a row. The team had a 30-0 winning streak during this time, from their first game until losing in the 1960 gold medal final. India also won the World Cup in 1975. India's hockey team is the most successful team ever in the Olympics, having won eight gold medals in 1928, 1932, 1936, 1948, 1952, 1956, 1964 and 1980. India won a bronze medal in 2021, winning a medal in Olympics after a gap of 41 years. India also has the best overall performance in Olympic history with 83 victories out of the 134 matches played. They have also scored the most goals in the Olympics than any other team.

Golden Years
India decided to send a team in 1928 Olympics after the formation of Indian Hockey Federation. India then went on to win the whole competition. They defeated Netherlands 3-0 in the finals India then went on to defend their title in 1932 Olympics with a 11-1 win over Japan and 24-1 win over USA in that match Roop Singh scored 10 goals, This is still the largest margin of victory ever in the Olympic games. India then won the 1936 olympic by defeating germany with a score of 8-1. The Indian hockey team that won 3 successive Olympics title is often regarded as the greatest ever team.

In the 1948 Olympics India won all the three league games. In the final India went on to face Great Britain and won the match 4-0. The result was a sweet one for India, which gained independence from Britain just a year ago. This win is often regarded as the greatest ever moment of Indian field hockey.

India went on to win 2 further gold medal at the Olympics in 1952 Olympics and 1956 Olympics, preserving its record as the most successful and dominant team at that time. In 1952 Olympics India thumped Netherlands by the score of 6-1. In the 1956 Olympics India won the match 1-0, which was the beginning of the biggest rivalry in field hockey.

Saikhom Mirabai Chanu

Saikhom Mirabai Chanu is an Indian weightlifter. She won the silver medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in Women's 49kg. Mirabai Chanu has won the World Championships and multiple medals at the Commonwealth Games. She was awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India for her contributions to the sport. She was awarded Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna award (Formally Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratan Award) by the Government of India in 2018 as well. She is the first ever Indian to grab a olympic silver medal in weight lifting.

Early Life
Saikhom Mirabai Chanu was born on 8 August 1994 in Nongpok Kakching about 30 km away from Imphal city, Manipur to a Meitei Family. Her family identified her strength when she was just 12. She could easily carry a huge bundle of firewood home when her elder brother found it hard to even pick it up.

Pusarla Venkata Sindhu

Pusarla Venkata Sindhu is an Indian professional badminton player. Over the course of her career, Sindhu has won medals at multiple tournaments including Olympics and on the BWF circuit including a gold at the 2019 World Championships. She is the first Indian to become the Badminton World Champion and only the second individual athlete from India to win two consecutive medals at the Olympic Games. She rose to a career-high world ranking of no. 2 in April 2017. She is the first woman in India to win 2 olympic medals.

Ravi Kumar Dahiya

Ravi Kumar Dahiya, also known as Ravi Kumar, is an Indian freestyle wrestler who won a silver medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in the 57 kg category. He is also a bronze medalist from 2019 World Wrestling Championships and a two-time Asian champion.

Early Life
Ravi Kumar Dahiya was born in 1997 and hails from the village of Nahri in Sonipat district, Haryana. Since age 10, Dahiya was trained by Satpal Singh at the Chhatrasal Stadium in North Delhi. His father Rakesh Dahiya, a small farmer, would travel 8-10 km every day from their village to the Chhatrasal stadium to deliver fresh milk and fruits, which were part of his wrestling diet, for more than a decade.

Bajrang Punia

Bajrang Punia is a freestyle wrestler from India. He competes in the 65-kg weight category. He is the only Indian wrestler to win 3 medals at the World Wrestling Championships. He won a bronze medal by defeating Kazakhstan's Daulet Niyazbekov at Tokyo Olympics, where the former Asian Games gold medalist dominated the men's 65 kg bronze medal bout from start to finish. The bronze medal match ended in a 8-0 scoreline in favour of Punia.

Early Life
Punia was born in the Khudan village of Jhajjar district in the state of Haryana, India. He began wrestling at the age of seven and was encouraged to pursue the sport by his father. Punia grew up a rural area. His family did not have money for traditional sports. Instead, he had to partake in free sports like wrestling and Kabaddi. Punia's father was a wrestler as well and at a young age, his family started him at a local mud wrestling school. Punia started to skip school to go to wrestling practice. In 2015, his family moved to Sonepat so that he can attend a regional centre of Sports Authority of India. He is married to Sangita Phogat, who is one of the famous Phogat sisters.

Lovlina Borgohain

Lovlina Borgohain is an Indian boxer and an Olympic medal winner. She won a bronze medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in the Women's welterweight event, becoming only the third Indian boxer to win a medal at the Olympics. She also won bronze medal at the 2018 AIBA Women's World Boxing Championships and the 2019 AIBA Women's World Boxing Championships. She won the gold medal at 1st India Open International Boxing Tournament held in New Delhi and silver medal at 2nd India Open International Boxing Tournament held in Guwahati. Borgohain is the first female athlete and the second boxer from Assam to represent the state in the Olympics. In 2020, she became the sixth person from Assam to receive Arjuna Award.

Early Life
Lovlina Borgohain was born on 2 October 1997, and hails from the Golaghat district of Assam. Her parents are Tiken and Mamoni Borgohain. Her father Tiken is a small-scale businessman and struggled financially to support his daughter's ambition. Her elder twin sisters Licha and Lima also competed at the national level at kickboxing, but did not pursue it beyond that. Lovlina too started her career as a kickboxer, but switched to boxing later when she found the opportunity to do so. The Sports Authority of India held trials at her high school Barpathar Girls High School, where Borgohain participated. She was noticed and selected by renowned Coach Padum Chandra Bodo at the SAI STC Guwahati from 2012 to learn basics of boxing and to achieve the excellence in boxing. She was later coached by Sandhya Gurung.
